Weekly Fishing Report - Anything Goes at Lochter

Down Lochter way it was one of those weeks where ‘anything went’ as far as types of flies to use. With the excellent weather you could choose to be top of the water, hovering at a steady depth or trawling along the bottom and you were all going to regularly be in contact with feeding fish. A lot of our recently stocked home-grown 4-6 lb fish were hooked and didn’t disappoint, with many broken casts ensuing.

Rob Bell chose to use CDC’s, hoppers and diawl bachs during his session and they stood him in good stead bringing 20 fish to the net.

Norman Fletcher used mainly a hothead damsel on an intermediate line and he was very satisfied with his 18 fish.

Colin Taylor used his favourite black WSW lure at depth on the Muckle Troot loch and he seemed to attract the bigger fish as he had 5 fish between 4lb-8lb amongst his return of 14 fish.

Johnny Thakkery fished all 3 lochs in his session when he brought 15 fish to the net mainly on buzzers and hare’s ears.

Ronnie Ewen from Macduff fished a mixture of wet flies including the Kate McLaren and he had 14 fish.

Other returns were Dave Mackay with 11 fish on buzzers, Richard Parley with 10 on black beetles or black ants and Graham Gauld on 9 using wet flies.

With mild weather forecast for the week ahead then it bodes well that the fishing will remain good.

A reminder that from Friday 1st October we will be returning to Winter opening hours of 8am-5pm. Still 9 hours of fishing fun.

Tight lines,
