Weekly Fishing Report - May the Wind be at your Back!

There was a lovely red sky at Lochter Fishery in Oldmeldrum last week in the morning, it was calm and picturesque but if you are a shepherd or a sailor, it is apparently bad news. “Red sky in the morning shepherds warning”. If it had been at night then that would have been good news “Red sky at night shepherd delight”.

There are of course dozens of wise old weather related sayings which we should al take heed of as the excesses of Christmas and New Year approach it is easy to end up “three sheets to the wind” and “under the weather”.

If you do, console yourself with the thought that “every cloud has a silver lining” and “it’s an ill wind that blows no one any good”.

At this time we also see much written about the year just past and predictions for the year ahead. Bob Dylan probably got it right when he sang “the answer my friend is blowing in the win” but you can’t help but feel that now is “the calm before the (Brexit) storm”.

The Blobbie Boys, Doug and Billy did not let anyone “rain on their parade” during the past week with twenty seven nice trout between them while Peter Young chipped in with fourteen, Brian Ross with thirteen and Bill Gibb fifteen. Black blobs and okay dokeys were the most successful flies all very slowly retrieved.

The fishery is closed on the 1st and 2nd January and Haggis, Neeps and Tatties are being looked out for the Rabbie Burns Pairs Competition on Sunday 27th January 2019.

Tight Lines for 2019!
